JNV Eligibility Criteria 2024
Getting admission into the acclaimed Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas through the JNVST Exam has certain eligibility conditions that applicants need to meet. Some of the major eligibility criteria are explained below:
a) District Requirement
Candidates must belong to the same district in which the JNV school is situated. Eligibility will be as per the old district limits if the district gets bifurcated later and no new JNV has been set up in the newly formed district.
b) Age Limit
All categories of candidates must be between 9 to 13 years of age as of the date specified for that admission cycle. There cannot be any discrepancy between the age on the certificate presented and the actual age during the medical examination.
c) Rural Candidature
To apply under the rural quota, the candidate must have completed and passed Grades III, IV and V from schools that are located in recognized rural areas. They need to have studied in these rural schools for at least one full academic year in each class.
d) Urban Area Candidature
If the student has enrolled even for a single day in an urban area school during Grades III, IV, or V, then they are considered under the urban area candidature criteria. Urban areas in this context are as defined in the 2011 Census of India.
e) Academic Level
The student must have been admitted to and be currently studying in Grade/Class V in order to be eligible for appearing for the JNVST test.
f) Appearance Limit
A candidate cannot reappear for JNVST if they have already appeared for the examination on a previous occasion. Reappearing for the test is strictly prohibited under all circumstances.
