The SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2024 for Tier 1 has 100 questions with a maximum score of 200. The duration is 60 minutes. It’s divided into four sections, each with 25 questions and a maximum score of 50. The sections are General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, General Reasoning, and English Comprehension. If multiple shifts are held, SSC will normalize the scores.

SSC CHSL Skill Test/ Typing Test for DEO/ LDC/ JSA
Skill Test for DEO : Data Entry Operators must undergo the Skill Test, which is obligatory. Every candidate must take this test, as there are no exemptions. This test evaluates candidates’ speed in data entry.
Part A – Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ : As per the notification, the Data Entry Speed requirement is 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on a computer. Candidates accurately enter words/key depressions from a given passage to assess this. The 15-minute Test involves entering around 2000-2200 key depressions from printed English material into the computer. The passage may also appear on-screen. Eligible candidates using a scribe get 5 extra minutes, making the Skill Test 20 minutes long for them.
Part B – Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA: The Typing Test medium is Hindi or English, as chosen in the online Application form. This choice is final. English medium requires 35 words per minute (w.p.m.), while Hindi is 30 w.p.m., corresponding to around 10500 and 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
Speed is judged by accurately typing a given passage on computer for 10 minutes. Candidates eligible for a scribe get 5 extra minutes, making it 15 minutes total.
Passage Dictators will be provided for VH candidates using a scribe, who will read the passage within the allotted time.
As per notification, candidates with disabilities unfit for the Typing Test due to a physical disability may be exempted with prior Commission approval. They must submit a prescribed certificate from a competent Medical Authority declaring them permanently unfit, and provide relevant medical certificates as applicable during the Test. Otherwise, their exemption claim will be rejected.
