KSET Educational Qualification 2024 

The KSET eligibility 2024 is held to assess candidates’ qualifications for the role of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across Karnataka. Candidates must meet specific KSET eligibility criteria 2024 to appear for the exam. Below is a summary of the KSET Educational Qualification 2024.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have obtained at least 55% marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50% for SC, ST, PWD, and OBC categories in their Master’s Degree or an equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university.

Candidates Pursuing Degrees

Candidates currently pursuing their Master’s Degree or equivalent course, or those who have appeared for their final year exams and are awaiting results may apply provisionally. However, they must submit proof of having passed their Master’s Degree with the required percentage within two years of the KSET results, or their candidature will be invalidated.

Subject Eligibility:

Candidates must appear for the KSET in the subject of their post-graduation. If their subject is not offered, they are eligible to appear for UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET instead.

Relaxation for Ph.D. Holders:

Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s level examination before September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%) when appearing for SET.

Reservation Categories:

Candidates must indicate their reservation status in the online application form and submit valid category certificates from competent authorities by the deadline. Invalid certificates may result in the cancellation of candidature and legal consequences.

OBC Candidates from Other States:

OBC candidates from states outside Karnataka will be treated as General Merit (GM) under Karnataka’s reservation policy.

Provisional Candidature:

All candidates’ candidature is provisional, and meeting the KSET eligibility criteria is essential. The KSET authority reserves the right to revoke the candidature at any stage if any ineligibility is found.

Previously Eligible Candidates:

Candidates who have been declared eligible in prior KSET exams are not permitted to apply for the same subject again. If they are deemed eligible in the current KSET for the same subject, their previous eligibility will be withdrawn.

Foreign Degree Equivalence:

Candidates with foreign degrees, diplomas, or certificates must verify that their qualifications are equivalent to a Master’s Degree by obtaining confirmation from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).

  • Candidates who cleared the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF exam before 1989 are exempted from appearing in the KSET exam.
  • For SET candidates, those who passed the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for Assistant Professor eligibility before June 1, 2002, are exempted from KSET and can apply for Assistant Professor positions anywhere in India.
  • Candidates who qualified for SET on or after June 1, 2002, are only eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions within the universities or colleges of the state where they cleared the SET.
